The staff and the governors of the school aim to serve our community by providing an excellent education for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds within the context of Christian belief and practice. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith. We promote Christian values and spiritual development through the experience we offers to all our pupils.
We aim to provide a secure and caring environment in which our pupils develop lively and enquiring minds, confidence and skills to develop independent learning and an environment that provides the moral and spiritual framework for them to understand the world in which they live.
We are one of the largest Church of England schools in Medway and have approximately 350 boys and girls, aged 7 to 11 years old in twelve classes. These classes are arranged on a year group basis, three classes in each year group. We also have a large hall that is used for Acts of Worship and physical education. There is a separate dining room, which we share with St Margaret's Infant School. We have a well-stocked school library that has half a dozen computers used for research purposes. We are very lucky to posses two full class computer rooms, one with modern Microsoft Windows machines and the other with the latest Apple iMacs. These in turn are both linked to a network that includes computers in each classroom.
The main buildings occupy a single storey, with classrooms grouped around an attractive quadrangle. There is a separate Year 6 block, housed in an extension completed in 2003.
A second temporary block houses a fully equipped, indoor heated swimming pool. Future plans include converting a further room in this building to a junior fitness suite. The school provides wheelchair access to all areas.
The school is located in spacious grounds. These are well maintained and allow us to offer a wide range of outside activities.
St Margaret's is a caring school where all children are valued and encouraged to attain the very best they can. We encourage parents to take an active interest in their children’s education and to talk to the staff about anything that may concern them. Parents are encouraged to offer their services in many different ways, both in the classroom and around the school.
As a Church of England School we enjoy strong links with the parish and church of St Margaret's, Rainham. Clergy visit the school weekly to lead Acts of Worship and major festivals are celebrated in the parish church. The buildings and facilities are regularly used by community groups. We support a number of national and local charities through activities organised by the children and staff.
