Absence of School

All absence is recorded as authorised or unauthorised. If you wish to take your child on holiday in term time, you should complete the relevant notification form. The Headteacher will generally grant absence of up to ten school days in any one academic year but holidays should not be booked for the first two weeks of September or SATs testing week. Parents taking their children out of school during this time are likely to incur a substantial fine.
We always ring home when a child is unexpectedly absent so it is important that you tell us on the morning they are going to be away. It also helps if you let us know on the morning of their return. This is both for children’s security and in case of truancy. Reasons must be given for all absences.
Pupils who arrive at school after their class register has been marked should report to the school office so that their mark can be recorded. Persistent absence or lateness is reported to the Educational Welfare Officer.
