Illness
If your child is sent home from school because he or she is poorly, we will need a note or a telephone message to cover the next and subsequent days’ absences. If your child shows signs of being unwell before school starts then please do not send them to school. Sick children do not learn well and may infect others. We request that you keep your child at home for 24 hours following recovery from an illness to ensure that he or she is well enough to return to school. Please do not ask for your child to stay in during playtime. If your child is not well enough to go out into the playground then s/he is not well enough to be in school. An exception will be made for children who have breaks or sprains and need to be kept away from other children.
Medication needed by any child during school time has to be recorded in a central file. This will include your child’s name, details of the medication and so on. We will ask you to complete and sign a form that gives us permission to administer medication. We will not give out medication without written, detailed permission from you.
Children with asthma should keep their inhalers (blue, bronchodilators) with them at all times and a spare inhaler should be given to the class teacher.
If your child suffers a blow to the head whilst at school we will tell you about it.
