Unavoidable Closure

There are likely to be times when the school has to be closed at short notice because of plant failure or sever weather. We will always broadcast this information on the local radio stations; Radio Kent, Invicta FM and Mercury FM. An explanatory message will be placed on the school answerphone.
If we have to send the children home we will make every effort to contact you or your emergency contact. You should tell us if there is a particular friend that your child may go home with in the event that we cannot contact you. Where we are unable to make contact we will hold onto your child until the normal time for the end of school. We will not permit pupils to walk home alone other than at the end of school, if they are used to doing so.
We will not give permission for any children to leave the premises during the school day unless you have given us a note giving the reason and telling us what arrangements you have made for collecting your child. When a child has to leave school during the day we will issue them with a Local Authority permission slip which may be shown to an officer of the LEA or a police officer. There are regular “truant sweeps” and permission slips are important.
